Ted Peters is Research Professor Emeritus of Systematic Theology and Ethics at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary and the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California, and co-editor of the journal, Theology and Science, at the Center for Theology and the Natural Sciences. One of his foci has dealt with religious reflection on genetics and evolution. He is author of Playing God? Genetic Determinism and Human Freedom (Routledge, 2nd ed., 2002) and The Stem Cell Debate (Fortress, 2008). He is co-author of Evolution from Creation to New Creation (Abingdon 2002) and Can You Believe in God and Evolution? (Abingdon, 2009). He currently serves on the Standards Working Group (SWG) of the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine (CIRM), which sets standards for stem cell line derivation, oocyte donation, and related practices.
