Sabeen Ahmed

Sabeen Ahmed is a PhD candidate in the department of philosophy at Vanderbilt University, where she focuses on social and political philosophy with an emphasis on political ontology, critical phenomenology, philosophy of race and racism, and questions concerning statelessness and refugeehood. She was a co-founder of Vanderbilt’s Minorities and Philosophy chapter and in 2018–2019 organized a seminar on statelessness and displacement through Vanderbilt’s Robert Penn Warren Center for the Humanities. Her work has been published in Philosophy Today, Theory & Event, and Puncta: Journal of Critical Phenomenology, and she is co-editor of Refugees Now: Rethinking Borders, Hospitality, and Citizenship, published with Rowman & Littlefield in 2019. Starting in the 2020-2021 academic year, Sabeen will be a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in the Illinois Program for Research and the Humanities at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
