Rachel Havrelock is Associate Professor of Jewish Studies and English at the University of Illinois at Chicago. The author of River Jordan: The Mythology of a Dividing Line (University of Chicago Press, 2011), she is now working on two books: The Joshua Generation: Politics and the Promised Land and Pipeline: The Transport of Oil and Making of the Modern Middle East.
