Nathan C. Johnson (PhD, Princeton Theological Seminary) is Assistant Professor of Religion at the University of Indianapolis, specializing in early Christian and Second Temple Jewish literature. His first book, The Suffering Son of David in Matthew’s Passion Narrative (Cambridge University Press, 2023), won the 2024 Manfred Lautenschlaeger Award for Theological Promise. His current book project examines popular messiah and prophet movements in antiquity
