Matthew V. Novenson is a Senior Lecturer in New Testament and Director of the Centre for the Study of Christian Origins at the University of Edinburgh. He is the author of Christ among the Messiahs: Christ Language in Paul and Messiah Language in Ancient Judaism (Oxford University Press, 2012; paperback 2015) and The Grammar of Messianism: An Ancient Jewish Political Idiom and Its Users (Oxford University Press, 2017; paperback 2019). He is presently editing the Oxford Handbook of Pauline Studies and writing a critical commentary on the Letter of Paul to the Philippians.
