Lucy Benjamin is a PhD candidate at Royal Holloway, University of London. In her dissertation she explores the distinction between earth and world as set out firstly in the work Martin Heidegger and as it is later taken up in the work of Hannah Arendt. Pushing at this constellation for thinking the space of political action in view of the anthropocene, her dissertation aims to rethink the question of what it means to ‘ethically dwell.’ Her project explores issues of rights, sovereignty and political action. She has previously completed an MPhil at the University of Amsterdam.
