James Noel is Professor of American Religion and the H. Eugene Farlough, Jr. Chair of African American Christianity at San Francisco Theological Seminary. He is the author Black Religion & the Imagination of Matter in the Atlantic World, and co-editor of Onesimus Our Brother: Reading Race, Religion & Slavery in Philemon and The Passion of the Lord: African American Reflection.
