Amiel Bize completed her PhD in Anthropology at Columbia University in 2018 and is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the Anthropology Department at the University of Bayreuth. She is working on a book manuscript focused on risk and “post-agrarian” rural life in East Africa. The book and other ongoing projects—one on gleaning, an ancient form of redistribution, organized around leftovers, and another on insurance—are part of a wider interest in social and moral-economic life at the margins of capitalism.
