David Thorstad
David Thorstad is Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Vanderbilt University, Senior Research Affiliate at the Global Priorities Institute, Oxford, and Research Affiliate at the MINT Lab, ANU. Thorstad received a PhD in philosophy from Harvard University in 2020 and held a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Oxford. Thorstad’s research sits at the intersection between bounded rationality, inquiry, and value theory. Thorstad asks how bounded agents should make up their minds about what to do and believe, and how the answers to these questions bear on altruistic decisionmaking and the ethics of emerging technologies.
